Pokémon Pokopia has been compared to games like Animal Crossing and Minecraft, and its Metacritic score technically makes it the highest-rated Pokémon game of all time. Developers recently uploaded footage of the bases they built in the life sim, giving viewers a clear look at how the game functions in practice.

The video features four developers: Kanako Murata from The Pokémon Company, Takuto Edagawa from Koei Tecmo, Shigeru Ohmori from Game Freak, and Marina Ayano from Koei Tecmo. Ayano begins with a tour of her Pokémon gym–themed area, showing social mechanics such as emotes and special animations that happen when players run around together.

Edagawa’s base leans into mechanical systems: switches, triggers and interactive bits that make doors, lights and appliances respond. When he opens a bathroom door the light turns on and the sink runs, and the scene reveals electric wiring that powers the area.
