Pokémon Pokopia, an Animal Crossing–style cozy sim set in a possibly post-apocalyptic Pokémon world, arrives on Switch 2 on March 5 and has received strong early praise. It sits at a 90 on Metacritic, the highest aggregated score for any game in the series on the site, and many critics say Omega Force’s Dragon Quest Builders team has delivered a standout third-party take on the license.

Reviewers highlight the game’s blend of relaxing play and engaging systems. Game Informer called it “a game of wonder, exploration, and revitalization,” while GamesRadar compared the meditative task of clearing volcanic ash to Powerwash Simulator and noted familiar mechanics for players of Dragon Quest Builders.

The title leans into its Ditto protagonist, using transformation powers and offbeat animations to make mechanics feel characterful — from Ditto gaining a shell or tail when using abilities to storing items inside its body and “slurping” them up Kirby-style.
