The absence of a new mainline Pokémon game in 2025 prompted questions about the trading card game, which had been built around a three‑year cycle. The TCG briefly revived Mega Evolution—tied loosely to the events of Pokémon Z‑A and leaning on nostalgia—but with Pokémon Winds and Waves pushed to 2027 the spotlight has turned to a 30th Anniversary set.

During the anniversary Pokémon Presents the TCG made a short, opaque appearance. The clearest announcement was that the new cards will, for the first time ever, release simultaneously worldwide. The minute‑long clip flashed through a range of favorite cards, often in non‑English versions, before finishing on Mew and Mewtwo.

Some outlets suggest the montage showed cards that will be reprinted in the celebratory series, but the sequence also reads like a rapid tour through 30 years of cards. It begins with Chonkachu #58 and the Base Set holo Charizard (shown as Glurak in German), then moves through a French Palkia Lv.
