Pokémon Winds and Waves could have the first new Eevee in over a decade
Eevee is the only Pokémon with eight elemental variants, and fans have not seen a new Eeveelution since Sylveon arrived in 2013. With the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Waves, Game Freak has an opening to expand that lineup, especially given the game’s weather- and sea-focused theme.
Each Eeveelution has historically reflected a major series mechanic: stone-based evolutions in the first generation produced Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon; friendship and the day/night cycle yielded Espeon and Umbreon; location-based conditions introduced Leafeon and Glaceon; and Pokémon X & Y added Sylveon as the Fairy-type.
Sword and Shield later offered a Gigantamax Eevee variant, showing Game Freak will revisit the concept in different forms. Leaked materials mention new ideas that could suit another Eevee: a Seed Pokémon class with “infinite variations,” mass weather events, cloud generation and state-shifting environments.
