Pokémon Winds And Waves Starters: Browt, Pombon and Gecqua

The initial announcement of Pokémon Winds And Waves revealed the three new starter Pokémon trainers can choose at the beginning of the game — and, by extension, the first three Pokémon unveiled for Gen X: Browt, Pombon and Gecqua. Browt is an owl-ish baby bird with big eyebrows and serves as the Grass-type starter, classified as a Bean Chick Pokémon.

Its listed stats are Height: 1′ (0.3m), Weight: 7.7lb (3.5KG) and Ability: Overgrow. It seems a bit odd that the game returned to an owl-inspired starter so soon after Rowlet three generations ago, though Browt is described as a “chick” and its leaf-like brows suggest Bulbasaur-like planty attacks.

Pombon is a fluffy, dog-like Fire-type classified as a Puppy Pokémon. Stats: Height: 1′4 (0.4m), Weight: 14.8lb (4.3KG) and Ability: Blaze. The design clearly draws on a Pomeranian, and the reveal raises the question of whether it will remain cute as it evolves or move toward a more wolf-like direction.
