Players and fansite operators have flagged a mobile companion app, Pokopedia, for allegedly copying content from long-running Pokémon fansite Serebii. Serebii webmaster Joe Merrick says he spent more than 200 hours documenting Pokopia and that the app appears to have scraped much of that work for its own database.

Merrick points to specific overlaps, including the same omissions Serebii made while building its guides — for example, both initially failed to list the Litter speciality for Snivy and Larvesta — and alleges some images were taken from his site or from the HOME images he had been using.

The app, which offers a one-time $8.99 purchase to remove ads, was created by developer Hugo Duarte, who previously made a similar Stardew Valley app. Duarte removed references to Pokopedia from his X account after the accusations surfaced.
