Pokopia's DJ Rotom entry dampens hopes for a Sound-type
New Pokémon types are a perennial point of debate, and with Pokémon Winds and Waves approaching many trainers were again wondering if Generation 10 would introduce a brand-new Type. Pokopedia's Pokédex, however, lists Stereo Rotom (DJ Rotom) as an Electric/Normal-type, a detail that has already reshaped the conversation.
Serebii creator Joe Merrick tweeted, "Why would they do such a thing if not for the future?" in reference to Stereo Rotom, while one fan declared, "Sound type is DEAD." Another argued Stereo Rotom's typing suggests The Pokémon Company isn't interested in Sound, "considering this was the perfect opportunity and they did not take it," and a third added, "Kinda glad this shoots down the 'Sound' Type," noting that many sound-based moves already fit other types.
Playing devil's advocate, DJ Rotom's existence doesn't completely rule out Sound-types because The Pokémon Company would likely be more willing to add a new Type in a mainline game than in a spin-off that doesn't even feature Pokémon battles.
