Pokopia's Pokémon dialogue is raising some eyebrows
In Pokopia the Pokémon speak for themselves, and the results range from charming to downright odd. For anyone who wanted to know what the Pocket Monsters sound like, the game delivers. Some lines are exactly what you'd expect; others come as surprises. Kyogre speaks in a rural dialect, with y'alls and dropped endings that make a demigodlike titan sound like a corn-fed neighbor 'just down the road.' Blastoise and Hitmonlee use similar speech.
Meanwhile, one early objective is re-humidifying the Withered Wastes, and several Pokémon cheer, 'Let's get this place humid!' They seem to avoid saying the word moist, as if they somehow know it makes people uncomfortable, which is odd since none of them have seen a PC or, presumably, been on social media.
Normally friendly, Pokémon turn snippy when Pinsir and Heracross meet. The two argue about whose horn is better—Heracross calls Pinsir's horns pathetic, while Pinsir mocks Heracross for having only one, a 'sorry excuse' for a horn.
