Poll finds British voters say Brexit has worsened economy, immigration and control
Independent.co reports that a major new poll found British voters believe Brexit has made things worse across a range of areas, from the economy to immigration, and left the UK with less control over its affairs; the survey involved about 20,000 people in more than 27 leading democracies.
Key findings include 72 per cent of British voters saying the UK now has less control over its affairs and only 15 per cent saying the campaign slogan has lived up to its promise. Two in three (66 per cent) said Brexit has hurt the economy while 22 per cent said it has had a positive impact; 55 per cent said the referendum warnings were correct and 23 per cent said they were not.
Only 22 per cent said Brexit gave greater power over borders, while 66 per cent said it had not. European voters were largely welcoming: 66 per cent said they would like Britain to rejoin the EU, 16 per cent did not, and just 19 per cent said the EU is better off without the UK versus 50 per cent who said it is not.
