Polymarket Bets Stir Questions After Logan Paul’s $16.5 Million Pokémon Sale
Logan Paul’s weeks-long auction ended with winning bids far above market estimates, the standout being a PSA 10 Illustrator Pikachu that sold for $16,492,000. The buyer was AJ Scaramucci, who paid $13.3 million and covered roughly $3.2 million in Goldin’s fees, and who reportedly surprised the auction house by appearing at Goldin headquarters as the sale completed, creating an on-site photoshoot with Paul while the card remained attached to its chain.
On the final night the card had been sitting at $6.882 million until a flurry of bids in an “extended bidding period” pushed it to about $16.5 million, well above Goldin’s $7–12 million estimate. Goldin had advanced Paul $2.5 million ahead of the sale, and Guinness World Records was in the room to capture the record-breaking moment.
Attention turned to Polymarket, where markets had shown a 72 percent chance the card would sell for over $7 million before the final day.
