Possible break-in at Vice President JD Vance's Cincinnati home; man detained
People reports the Secret Service confirmed that shortly after midnight on Monday, Jan. 5, a man was "physically detained" by agents at Vice President JD Vance's Cincinnati home as police investigate an alleged break-in attempt.
Assistant Special Agent in Charge Matthew Young said in a statement, "An adult male was taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department after being detained by U.S. Secret Service personnel for causing property damage, including breaking windows on the exterior of a personal residence associated with the Vice President." The Secret Service said Vance and his family were not in Ohio at the time. Local ABC outlet WCPO photographed what appears to be a broken window on the property. It appears that Vance rang in the New Year in Cincinnati as the city previously announced that the roads surrounding his home would be closed from Dec. 29 through Jan. 4, and residents had to go through three security checkpoints to reach their homes.
The Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney's Office are coordinating with the Secret Service to discuss charging the unnamed man. The outlet has reached out to the White House and Cincinnati Police Department for comment.
