Pre-Proposal Workshop for HWO Instrument Concept Studies — May 4–5, 2026

A hybrid pre-proposal workshop for HWO instrument concept studies will be held May 4–5 in Washington, DC, with remote attendance available. Registration is free but required for both in-person and online participation; in-person seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration opens March 18 at 8:00 AM EST (link: https://cvent.me/NyvdDy). The workshop will let potential proposers learn about the interests of others and begin forming teams. HTMPO will present updates on driving science cases, current instrument concepts, and ongoing technology development; those presentations will be recorded and made publicly available after the event.

NASA plans to solicit proposals in spring 2026 for U.S.-led HWO instrument concept studies. The goal is to form teams that will carry out science, engineering, and technology investigations to inform the HWO Technology Maturation Project Office as it develops the HWO mission concept.
