Prime Video’s Cross Season 2 Is Hooking True Detective Fans

The first season of True Detective is widely regarded as one of television’s standout seasons, and Prime Video has aimed for that same gritty tone with Cross, a hard-boiled detective series starring Aldis Hodge. The show adapts James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels, a property that has previously been brought to the screen by actors including Morgan Freeman.

Cross debuted on Prime Video in 2024 and, despite mixed reviews, became an immediate hit and earned a Season 2 renewal. The first three episodes of Season 2 premiered earlier this week and sit at a 91% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, pushing the series to the platform’s third most popular spot behind Beast Games and Fallout; with Fallout currently off the air, Cross is poised to climb further.

Other titles holding Prime Video’s top 10 include Steal, starring Sophie Turner, and the second season of The Night Manager with Tom Hiddleston.
