Prime Video appears to be shifting from director-driven arthouse fare toward mainstream genre movies built around bankable stars. The streamer, once the home of titles like Manchester by the Sea, has recently released the action film The Wrecking Crew and the Kevin James–Alan Ritchson vehicle Playdate.

The latest offering is a big-budget swashbuckler called The Bluff, directed by Frank E. Flowers and executive produced by the Russo Brothers. It stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Karl Urban; Chopra Jonas previously led Prime Video's $300 million series Citadel, while Urban is a prominent lead on The Boys.

In The Bluff, Urban plays a villainous pirate who lands on an island where Chopra Jonas' character has been living under a new identity with her husband and son. His arrival sets them on a collision course and unleashes the protagonist's long-dormant inner John Wick.
