Producer Charles Roven says he is in post-production on two films, naming The Thomas Crown Affair and Road House 2, and his comments suggest the Jake Gyllenhaal-led sequel could arrive later this year or early next year. “I've got two movies that I'm in post-production on, so those are my bright lights at the moment,” he said.

“The Thomas Crown Affair and Road House 2. I'm excited about both of those movies.” The Road House follow-up grew out of Doug Liman's original reboot plan with Gyllenhaal. The first film, released directly on streaming, proved a hit for Amazon Studios even as Liman publicly criticized the decision to skip a theatrical release and said he wasn't compensated properly after Amazon acquired MGM.

That dispute did not halt sequel plans. Directing the sequel has shifted a few times. Guy Ritchie was announced for the job but later stepped away, reportedly because of scheduling conflicts, and Nobody director Ilya Naishuller was later attached.
