Vietnam War Sci‑Fi 'Primitive War' Lands on Hulu

Primitive War, an Australian sci-fi action thriller directed by Luke Sparke and based on the novel by Ethan Pettus, pits soldiers against de‑extinct dinosaurs during the Vietnam War. The plot follows a reconnaissance unit that undertakes a rescue mission for a US Army Special Forces platoon and is attacked by the creatures, and the cast includes Tricia Helfer, Ryan Kwanten, Jeremy Piven and Nick Wechsler.

After hitting theaters in Australia last year and receiving a limited U.S. release, the film generated significant buzz at San Diego Comic‑Con—becoming the first Australian movie to headline a panel—even as box-office returns were modest. Primitive War will be available on Hulu beginning Apr.

4. Sparke said he wanted the film to deliver on its premise, aiming for regular dinosaur action: "Every five, seven minutes, let's make sure that there's a dinosaur doing something, because that's what people are here to see." The movie holds an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
