There has been no official word from William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, regarding the arrest of William’s uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Three days after Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor was taken away from his home by the police, the couple arrived at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards in a picture of royal unity, quietly underscoring their own value system at a time when the monarchy and its dirty laundry is under the microscope.

It was the first time the couple had attended the BAFTAs together since Catherine’s cancer diagnosis in 2024. For the event William did not wear the classic tuxedo he has often worn as the BAFTA president; he chose a burgundy velvet dinner jacket that matched the burgundy velvet belt Catherine wore around her blush pink and rose Gucci gown, a dress she first wore in 2019 to a gala at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
