Prince Andrew omitted from Prince Edward birthday tribute

The Royal Collection Trust posted a throwback photo on Instagram to mark Prince Edward’s 62nd birthday that showed the Duke of Edinburgh playing with King Charles and Princess Anne — Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor was absent from the image. The caption read, “Happy birthday to The Duke of Edinburgh, born on this day in 1964.

Prince Edward plays with his big brother and sister in this photo from 1969.” The omission comes less than a month after Andrew was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly forwarding confidential trade documents to Jeffrey Epstein.

He was released later that day and could face a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted. In October 2025 Andrew agreed that continued accusations about his connection to Epstein distracted from the work of the monarch and the royal family and stepped back from public life.
