Prince Harry replied ‘Good, very good’ after first day of tabloid trial
Prince Harry had a brief response when asked about his first day in court on Monday, Jan. 19, People reported, as he returned to London for the start of his trial; his spokesperson said he was "feeling confident and ready" for the proceedings.
The trial kicked off at London's High Court and involves Harry and other high-profile claimants suing Associated Newspapers over allegations of illegal information gathering. Cameras caught Harry leaving court, where he told reporters, "Good, very good." The media group, which publishes the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday and Mail Online, has "vigorously denied" the claims, according to the BBC. In a written submission, the claimants' lawyer David Sherborne said Harry's claims are based on 14 articles published between 2001 and 2013 that had a "profoundly distressing effect" and made him "paranoid beyond belief."
The trial is expected to last nine weeks, and a draft timetable says Harry is due to take the stand to present evidence on Thursday, Jan. 22. He previously gave evidence in a 2023 phone‑hacking case against Mirror Group Newspapers, winning "substantial" damages, and is seeking a similar outcome in this case.
