Prison Break reboot lead says creators have a three-season plan

Emily Browning will lead Hulu’s Prison Break reboot as Cassidy Collins, an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who takes a job at one of America’s deadliest prisons to help someone she loves. The series is set in the same universe as the original but follows a different cast that includes Lukas Gage, Drake Rodger, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock.

The project began with a pilot ordered in December 2024 from Elgin James and was later expanded into a full season order at Hulu. Browning told Collider at the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival that the creative team is aiming for longevity. "I'm aware of the three-season arc if we get that," she said, adding plainly, "We have plans." She also confirmed the pilot has been filmed and that cameras should start rolling on the rest of the series "in a couple of months." She emphasized the reboot will be a different take rather than a rehash of the original.
