Project: Gorgon exits Early Access with Statehelm, 'largest and most complex' map
Project: Gorgon has launched out of Steam Early Access with a 1.0 update that adds a new capital city area called Statehelm, the developer says. The classically styled MMO pairs simple 3D visuals and a minimally guided levelling experience with systems such as an NPC relationship system and dynamic environmental mechanics — for example, players can put themselves out after being set on fire by jumping into a lake.
Developer Elder Game describes Statehelm as "by far the largest and most complex map we've ever made." The hub adds 200 new quests, serves as a space for max-level players, and facilitates character progression up to level 100; Elder Game says it will be a "jumping-off point for a bunch of new content that'll be coming in the coming months." The 1.0 update also brings new character models for richer customisation, changes to how players earn combat wisdom (a specific type of spendable XP), and a "crafting epiphanies" system that can grant master craftsmen extra combat wisdom and powerful crafting buffs.
The patch includes targeted economy tweaks to player-run vendor stalls in the town of Serbule and a range of smaller fixes — including the changelog note that "skeletons are no longer contortionists." If you want to try it first, there’s a demo that lets players progress to level 15.
