Project Hail Mary Final Trailer Focuses on Ryan Gosling and Alien
The final trailer for Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's Project Hail Mary arrived online alongside the film's Super Bowl TV spot. Adapted from Andy Weir's novel, the movie stars Ryan Gosling as Dr. Ryland Grace, a scientist sent to the far reaches of space to investigate another sun and try to save Earth's.
This latest preview centers on Grace's relationship with an alien nicknamed Rocky and shows how the two learn to communicate. Rather than a threat, Rocky is revealed to be on the same mission from his own world, also trying to discover why suns are dying and to stop it.
Project Hail Mary marks Lord and Miller's first directorial effort since 2014's 22 Jump Street; they had previously been attached to Solo: A Star Wars Story before departing that project. The filmmakers have called it the biggest film they've made, and the confirmed 156-minute runtime has fans hoping the adaptation stays faithful to Weir's hard-science-fiction novel.
