'Project Hail Mary' scores big at the box office

Project Hail Mary opened in the No. 1 spot on Friday, drawing more than $33.1 million at the box office, Box Office Mojo shows. Animated sci‑fi comedy Hoppers placed second, earning $5.4 million on its third Friday; the film follows an animal lover who uses new technology to communicate with animals.

Third was Ready or Not 2: Here I Come with $3.8 million, and the Guardian said the sequel "expands mythology we didn’t need expanded." Fourth was Dhurandhar The Revenge, an Indian Hindi‑language spy action thriller, which took in close to $3 million. Reminders of Him came in fifth with $2.71 million.
