Rachel Ward rebukes trolls over criticism of her appearance
Pagesix reports Rachel Ward, 68, has pushed back at internet trolls who criticized her for aging naturally, posting a video on Instagram in which she addressed the backlash.
In the clip Ward jokingly apologized for “frightening a few of you” with her “rather unkempt appearance” and told viewers “do not fear aging.” She said the 60s are “a wonderful period of life,” that she is “more fulfilled than ever” and has “no regrets, leaving my youth and beauty behind.” Ward became a star in the 1983 mini-series The Thorn Birds, where she met husband Bryan Brown; the couple married in 1983 and share three children, and she now runs a beef farm in rural New South Wales.
Ward said she was “overwhelmed by the generosity” of supporters after “a few fearful trolls” attacked her before Christmas, thanked those who defended her and highlighted her farm’s produce — “steaks, chooks, eggs, pork and lamb” — while joking she had not done her hair or applied “some lippy.”
