For the first time in the franchise's 44-year history, a new actor is taking the lead in John Rambo, with Noah Centineo cast as the action hero. Sylvester Stallone was not originally involved with the prequel, but that is changing. Stallone will not appear in the film but has signed on as an executive producer, the first time he has served as a producer on the franchise.

He has previously lent his talents to the screenplays for each Rambo movie and directed the fourth installment in 2008. Production is currently filming in Bangkok, Thailand, with Sisu director Jalmari Helander at the helm. Adam Fogelson said, "Sylvester Stallone knows the character of John Rambo better than anyone, and Lionsgate has had the good fortune of partnering with Sly for more than 20 years on this legendary IP.

His participation is the final, critical piece to John Rambo, and we're thrilled to have his involvement." Stallone added on Instagram: "Rambo has been part of my life for a very long time.
