Rare Super Pocket brings Banjo-Kazooie to a $70 retro handheld

The Rare Edition of the Super Pocket is a retro gaming handheld that costs $70 and ships in June 2026. Pre-loaded with 14 Rare classics including Banjo-Kazooie, it comes from HyperMegaTech and taps into the Evercade ecosystem. Announced at the end of February, it’s essentially the Evercade Rare Collection 1 with two extra games compiled on a dedicated handheld.

The lineup spans Banjo-Kazooie, Conker’s Pocket Tales, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs and an 8-bit Battletoads, Cobra Triangle, R.C. Pro‑Am II, Slalom, Snake Rattle ’n’ Roll, Solar Jetman: Hunt for the Golden Warpship, and home-computer titles such as Atic Atac, Jetpac, Lunar Jetman, Knight Lore and Gunfright.

At $70, some will question buying a single-purpose anthology when emulation portables can offer broader libraries. The counterpoint is that collecting can be rewarding and simplicity avoids choice paralysis.
