RathGames hits a wall at Hades, reveals 233-day secret backup
Final Fantasy 14's Solo Only run, undertaken by RathGames, bans the market board, trading, parties, and duty support NPCs. He's overcome mandatory multiplayer encounters before — for example, the 24-player Alliance raid Crystal Tower, achieved with minimal interactions from other solo runners.
His latest obstacle was Hades' Captivity in Shadowbringers, a mechanic that jails a party member until teammates break it with damage. The move can be avoided by getting Hades' second phase below roughly 30 percent before he finishes casting, but even after levelling a second job to 100 and gearing it out, RathGames couldn't reach that threshold; the game's damage scaling produced an impossible DPS check.
Rather than call for help, he multiboxed. In secret he spent over 193 hours levelling another character under the same ruleset — far shorter than the 1,008 hours from his first playthrough — and revealed that Solo Saviour "was made last July and took 233 days to prepare." "[It was] exhausting," he says.
