Real Madrid target Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck

Real Madrid are lining up a summer move for Borussia Dortmund and Germany centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck. The 26-year-old is under contract until 2027, is valued at around €50 million and has also attracted interest from Barcelona. Madrid's central defence has suffered long-term injuries in recent seasons to the likes of Eder Militao, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger.

Dean Huijsen's arrival from Bournemouth and academy graduate Raul Asencio have eased the burden, but with Militao tied to 2028 and Alaba and Rudiger facing contracts that expire at the end of the campaign, the squad could be short on options if those deals are not renewed.

Schlotterbeck joined Dortmund from Freiburg in 2022, has made 150 appearances for BVB, scored nine goals and helped them reach the 2023-24 Champions League final that Real Madrid won.
