Rebecca Gayheart breaks silence after husband Eric Dane's death

Rebecca Gayheart thanked the outpouring of support on Instagram Stories Sunday, writing, “I am so blown away by the outpouring of love and support from our community. There aren’t words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this difficult time.” Her husband, the beloved "Grey’s Anatomy" star Eric Dane, died on Thursday at the age of 53 following a battle with ALS.

A family statement said, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” adding that he spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, “who were the center of his world.” The statement noted, “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight,” and said the family has asked for privacy.

Dane announced his diagnosis in April 2025, about a month after he and Gayheart called off their divorce.
