According to Businessinsider, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation said members of the U.S. military felt "pressured" by commanders to see "Melania," and that the group received such reports from eight bases.

An email seen by Business Insider from an active-duty enlisted member said a unit commander advised the unit and their family members to join him and his family at an off-base showing designated as one of the commander's "Unit Activity Events," and that the unit is required to attend at least three of the four UAEs that are scheduled each month or face a penalty.

Mikey Weinstein, MRFF's president, said those who contacted his group either went to the screening or "suddenly got sick." When reached for comment, a Department of Defense official told Business Insider, "There is no Department of War directive requiring service members to see this film, though the film is fantastic."
