Time reported that Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, was fatally shot in Minneapolis by an ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, during a protest, and that attempts to label her a "domestic terrorist" have provoked outrage in the city and across the country. A Wall Street Journal investigation identified 13 instances since July in which immigration agents fired at or into civilian vehicles, leaving at least eight people shot and two confirmed dead, including Good; it found that at least five of those shot were U.S.

citizens. Data compiled by The Trace shows immigration agents have opened fire 16 times since President Trump returned to office. The Department of Homeland Security told Time it considered the use of force justified in all 13 shootings, with Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin saying officers faced a "3,200% increase in vehicular attacks," but bystander and agent video of Good’s shooting appear to show Ross positioned to the side of her vehicle when he fired, with her wheels turned away from him, which contradicts the DHS account.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken over the probe and local officials were barred from participating; local leaders have demanded a fair investigation and accused the administration of demonizing opponents. Tens of thousands have protested in Minneapolis and hundreds of anti-ICE demonstrations occurred nationwide, Democrats have called for investigations and withholding of funding, and Connecticut Sen.
