Independent.co reports that large crowds have gathered in Minneapolis to protest after 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot on Wednesday morning by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Local officials have strongly disputed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's account that the agent fired in self-defence and called the incident an act of “domestic terrorism.” Video of the incident shows Good inside her vehicle blocking ICE agents; officials say a group surrounded the car, told her to exit, and an agent near the front fired through the windshield as the car began to move. President Donald Trump defended the ICE agent, while Minnesota Governor Tim Walz condemned the shooting and Mayor Jacob Frey called Noem’s account “bulls***t,” saying an agent recklessly used power that resulted in a death.

The state's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI are investigating, and Walz said he was prepared to deploy the National Guard if necessary while urging protests be peaceful. Hundreds held vigils and protesters gathered at a makeshift memorial, and there have been calls on social media to prosecute the officer who fired.
