Renee Nicole Good, 37, mourned after fatal shooting by federal agent in Minneapolis
Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot and killed by a federal agent on Wednesday in Minneapolis and was being mourned as a cherished member of the community.
Mourners placed flowers at a makeshift memorial near the site of the shooting. State Representative Leigh Finke of St. Paul paid tribute, saying Ms. Good was "a loved and celebrated community member, who has now been stripped away from her family." Ms. Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter, a U.S. citizen who lived in Minneapolis with her partner and had a 6-year-old child, "was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known," and was "loving, forgiving and affectionate."
Federal officials said an ICE agent shot and killed Ms. Good in self-defense and accused her of trying to use her vehicle to run over law enforcement officers; local officials strongly disputed that account. Ms. Finke condemned the federal immigration operation that led to the encounter and called for those activities to end and for "full transparency and accountability to ensure justice for the victim." Ms. Ganger declined additional comment, and other family members could not be immediately reached.
