Independent.co reports several Republican senators and House Speaker Mike Johnson have publicly rejected President Donald Trump’s suggestion of using military force to take Greenland. Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina called the idea “unproductive and unwise,” and on the Senate floor said: “Folks, amateur hour is over,” appearing to single out White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.

Tillis added, “It may be the position of the president of the United States that Greenland should be part of the United States, but it’s not the position of this government because we’re a coequal branch,” and said a vote would be required to make any change real. Other Republicans voiced opposition: Sen.

Joni Ernst said, “I just think we need to work well with the Danes,” and Sen. Lisa Murkowski warned that any effort to claim the territory by force “would degrade both our national security and our international relationships.” The report notes Tillis and Ernst are retiring, and that Murkowski previously voted to convict Mr Trump for his actions on January 6.
