Resident Evil Requiem closes with Leon Kennedy sliding a wedding band onto his finger, and fans quickly began speculating about who he married — Ada Wong, Claire Redfield, or even Chris Redfield.

Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi told Eurogamer that Capcom intended the scene to show Leon finally has somewhere to go after the game's carnage. "The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet. What we wanted to convey in the final scene is simple: Leon now has a 'place to go home to', and we hope you can imagine the peaceful moments he spends there," he said, adding that Leon "is a man who says very little about the things that truly matter, but he would sacrifice himself without a second thought to save a life right in front of him."

Nakanishi did not say whether the mystery will be resolved in Requiem's upcoming DLC or a new game, and the ambiguity has left Leon shippers in a tizzy.
