Resurgence of the Dead Shadows turns RE2 Remake into kaizo chaos

Resident Evil 2 Remake's slightly barmy Chinese modding scene has turned the game into a playground for one-upmanship and challenge mods. Resurgence Of The Dead Shadows is one of the newer, actively updated releases, and it embraces kaizo-style difficulty that will kill you and laugh about it.

The mod cranks the shenanigans to 11 from the start. In the prologue gas station you might find C4 beside the Raccoon City road-sign, only to plant it and discover Mr X has brought the family. Despite the death-defying openings, the mod is designed to be consistently beatable even on the highest difficulty: there are extra enemies everywhere, but also full boxes of 60 bullets, and Leon starts with a rapid-fire pistol that can be fully upgraded within the first hour.

Easy mode even offers bonus items and a fully loaded minigun inside the police station. Capcom's ray-tracing update broke a lot of mod support, so installation takes a few extra steps.
