Ricardo Pepi stuns with stoppage-time goal in PSV return
Ricardo Pepi marked his long-awaited return for PSV Eindhoven by scoring in stoppage time to secure a 3-1 win over Heerenveen. He had been sidelined with an arm injury since Jan. 10, and the goal provided a timely lift for both PSV and the U.S. Men’s National Team ahead of important March friendlies.
Pepi came on as a 75th-minute substitute for Peter Bosz’s side and finished emphatically in stoppage time, collecting the ball just outside the box and curling a composed effort into the corner. The striker had been linked with several clubs in January, with Fulham showing the most interest.
After a month of negotiations the Cottagers and PSV agreed a transfer fee on Deadline Day, but the deal was ultimately scrapped because PSV were unable to find a replacement. Sergino Dest featured at right back and was an attacking threat throughout, recording a key pass, a successful dribble, three clearances and four tackles in 90 minutes.
