Richard E Grant’s garden in Richmond replaces spring daffodils and tulips with props and decorations from films he has starred in. After any job he goes to the production department and tries to buy or bribe his way to pieces for the garden. Once a private space for entertaining actor friends, the garden has been shared more widely as part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s podcast Roots.

Behind a hedge sits the colourful proscenium arch from Saltburn; he asked for it at the end of filming and was given it for free when production planned to scrap it. Beneath the arch stands a two-foot faux marble sculpture of Barbra Streisand’s head that he commissioned from a special effects company; when he told Streisand about it she said, “You’re crazy,” and called it a “very accurate representation.” At the back are imposing faux marble pillars from Persuasion, strung with candelabras, and two ornate Roman plinths he spotted on a skip at Shepperton studios now frame his front door.
