Rick and Morty Returns May 24 With Wild First Season 9 Images

Adult Swim released a batch of images teasing the ninth season of Rick and Morty, and the show is returning sooner than expected. Season 9 is set to premiere Sunday, May 24 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT, arriving almost exactly one year after the last premiere. The new stills promise more multiversal mayhem: one image shows Rick drunkenly smashing through a tiny village with a flask in hand, another finds Rick and Morty camping against an idyllic sunset, and a separate shot captures Rick trying to restrain a furious Morty.

The press release calls the season "bigger, bolder, and more ambitious than ever" and not AI-generated but "Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts." Main voices Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer will all return, with co-creator Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder still at the helm.

Season 8 ended on an emotional note, with Rick taking a step toward being more open and responsible in his relationships.
