Jane Fallon, 65, revealed in an Instagram post Thursday that she was diagnosed with breast cancer a month ago. She said it was caught in the very early stage and that her prognosis is 'excellent.' A routine mammogram a week before Christmas flagged something despite no symptoms; the radiographer sent her for further tests and eventually a biopsy.

Fallon has since had more mammograms, additional biopsies and an MRI so doctors can pinpoint the problem area. She is scheduled to undergo surgery in two weeks and wrote that she is 'getting incredible care' but isn't engaging with much beyond audiobooks & jigsaws.

Keeping her sense of humour, Fallon shared a selfie and pictures of a stuffed bear she named 'Dr. Eric' and her cat, Pickles, whom she drew wearing a nurse outfit. She joked, 'Dr Eric on duty. Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is. ❤️❤️.' Fallon and Ricky Gervais have been partners since 1982, after meeting as students at University College London.
