Ridley Scott's Flawless 1979 Sci-Fi Debut Screams Loud and Clear on Streaming

Ridley Scott began his career in television as a designer and director before moving into advertising. He gained prominence not for The Duellists but for his second film, which also marked his debut in science fiction and later became a critical and commercial hit.

Scott collaborated with Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett on the project they created together: Alien, released in 1979. The classic has enjoyed a revival on HBO Max, where it ranks ninth while its 2024 sequel, Alien: Romulus, tops the charts. Based on a story by Shusett and O'Bannon, Alien follows the crew of the commercial starship Nostromo.
