Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner Finds New Life on Streaming

Ridley Scott’s work in science fiction stretches from Alien in 1979 to the enduring influence of Blade Runner, the 1982 cyber thriller that helped spawn a legacy sequel, Blade Runner 2049. The original film remains widely regarded as a landmark of the genre. Blade Runner is not streaming in the United States, yet it is appearing in the Apple TV top 10 as a popular rental and purchase in several countries.

With growing international interest and Scott’s continued visibility, it seems likely the film will resurface on a major platform. The Blade Runner universe is expanding: Prime Video has been developing a sequel series, Blade Runner 2099, which is set to star Michelle Yeoh alongside Hunter Schafer and Tom Burke.
