Rihanna shooting suspect charged with attempted murder, faces life in prison
Ivanna Ortiz has been charged with attempted murder after a court appearance in Los Angeles County. Prosecutors lodged a total of 14 counts against the 35-year-old, including nine counts of assault with a firearm, two counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling and one count of shooting at a motor vehicle.
Ortiz appeared in court wearing a blue jumpsuit and two blonde braids but did not enter a plea; her arraignment is set for March 26. She remains held on $1.8 million bond—a reduction from an initial $10.225 million—and has been ordered to stay away from Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky.
Ortiz was arrested after allegedly firing 10 shots with an AR-15-style rifle at the singer’s Beverly Hills home, where Rihanna, Rocky and their three children live. Bullets struck the property's front security gate and passed through the windshield of an airstream trailer; Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said both Rihanna and Rocky were inside the trailer when the shots were fired.
