RingConn Gen 2 review: subscription-free smart ring with standout battery life
ZDNET reviewed the RingConn Gen 2, a subscription-free smart ring priced around $299–$300, and recommends it as an Oura alternative largely for its battery life and lack of subscription gating. The ring is available in sizes six through 14 and three colors (silver, black, gold). Its build is more square than circular, the reviewer reported it fit comfortably and did not tarnish easily.
ZDNET noted the Gen 2 is priced below many competitors that start at $350 and go up to $400–$450. RingConn claims the Gen 2 battery lasts 10 to 12 days; in ZDNET’s testing it lasted seven days. The ring ships with a charging case that the reviewer said can power the ring for over 150+ days while untethered from an outlet.
The device measures vitals, sleep, activity and stress but does not provide a readiness metric. Instead the app offers a Wellness Balance feature that displays activity, sleep, vitals and stress as a flower-like graph. According to RingConn’s website, the Gen 2 also includes a sleep apnea detection feature with 90.7% accuracy.
In side-by-side testing with an Oura Ring 4, ZDNET found RingConn tended to underestimate sleep and steps; one example compared eight hours and two minutes (Oura) with seven hours and 45 minutes (RingConn). The reviewer criticized the app’s user interface as underdeveloped and said some messages felt impersonal.
