Riz Ahmed says he personally asked Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy why his Rogue One character, Bodhi Rook, didn’t appear in the series. Ahmed played Bodhi, a former Imperial pilot who defected to help the Rebel Alliance, and he noted that other Rogue One alumni—Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera—did return.

Ahmed recalled his conversation with Gilroy: "Tony, everyone says everyone in Rogue One is doing cameo in your show? What's going on?" Gilroy replied, "You know, I actually really thought about this, but we'd totally mess up all the timelines of the show and how the chronology of it works." Ahmed added, "I believe it.

Tony's good people. I believe it." In Rogue One, Bodhi meets Cassian and Jyn Erso as a stranger, so a credible appearance in Andor would need to show he wasn’t directly attached to Cassian’s activities.
