Robert Pattinson as Scytale is the most anticipated part of Dune 3

Robert Pattinson has moved from his early fame in Twilight to establish himself as a character actor, choosing projects with directors as varied as Christopher Nolan, Lynne Ramsay and Bong Joon-ho. He has played a lighthouse keeper descending into madness, a series of expendable clones, and even voiced the Grey Heron in Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron — an exception to the usual preference for subtitled versions so his performance could be heard.

In Dune: Part Three, 17 years have passed on Arrakis and Paul Atreides rules as a tyrannical Padishah Emperor. Scytale’s objective is to dethrone him, and it feels overdue for Pattinson to take on a proper antagonist role; his turn as Jackson in Die My Love was one of 2025’s biggest villains, and last year’s Mickey 17 showed him flirting with darker impulses when rogue clone Mickey 18 tried to steal the identity of his predecessor.
