Robinhood Launches Public Testnet for Its Ethereum L2 Chain
Robinhood has launched the public testnet for Robinhood Chain, a financial-grade Ethereum Layer-2 built on Arbitrum. Johann Kerbrat, SVP and General Manager of Robinhood Crypto, announced the testnet at Consensus Hong Kong, marking the chain’s first public development phase after it was teased at the company’s Cannes keynote last year.
The testnet opens access to network entry points, developer documentation, and full compatibility with standard Ethereum development tools; partners including Alchemy and LayerZero are already building on the chain. Robinhood Chain embeds compliance at the chain layer, enabling tokenized stocks, private equity and other real-world assets onchain while remaining permissionless for builders.
Kerbrat said the vision includes 24/7 trading, instant settlement and self-custody, and that the company’s tokenization engine is designed to eventually support private equity, real estate, art and similar assets.
