Roblox showcases experimental AI with a Clair Obscur-like demo
The Roblox Corporation has rolled out an experimental generative AI called 4D Generation, a feature launched yesterday that lets "bloxers" create "interactive 3D objects like cars, plans, and more" from simple prompts. Its research lab is also exploring a more experimental system dubbed 'real-time dreaming', which the company describes as the "ability to generate fully playable video worlds prompted from any text or image" and then convert them to "Roblox native as a way for many people to play simultaneously." Roblox calls the idea "Dream Theater – where one user is dreaming, while others watch and prompt them." The model is currently running internally at 16fps at 832x480p.
A demo video showed the tech at work: a prompt of "woman in a glowing cave" produced imagery that many observers likened to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with a Maelle-like figure in a blurry version of the game's Flying Waters area.
