Rocket League teaser sparks debate over possible boost timer
Ahead of Rocket League Season 22, set to launch March 11, developer Psyonix uploaded a 20‑second teaser that shows a player driving over a Boost Pad, leaving, then returning to collect another boost just as it respawns. Many viewers interpret the clip as a hint that a visible "boost timer"—displaying how long until a pad refreshes—might be coming to the game.
The suggestion has split the community. Critics say a visible timer would hand practiced timing to all players: "If this is anything like a boost timer we don't need it," one player wrote on X, and another added, "If this is a boost timer it’s such an unnecessary change to comp." High‑level players can often predict Boost Pad refreshes already, and some fear a timer would erase that skill.
Others see benefits for newcomers. "This is a good feature, because it helps new players learn when boost spawns," a commenter wrote on Reddit, while also noting that veterans worry their hard‑earned instincts could be diminished.
