Ronaldo misses penalty, suffers hamstring scare as Al-Nassr comeback wins
Al-Nassr battled from behind at Al-Fayha to complete a comeback and retake top spot from Al-Ahli. Cristiano Ronaldo scuffed an early penalty and later limped off after feeling something in his hamstring, but the visitors recovered to secure the victory. The spot-kick arrived after Mikel Villanueva reached for a loose ball and appeared to brush Mohamed Simakan’s foot, with the French defender collapsing; Ronaldo sent the penalty wide of the left post.
Marcelo Brozovic escaped punishment for what looked like a headbutt, and on the cusp of half-time Fashion Sakala found Rakan Kaabi, whose low cross forced Abdulelah Al-Amri to turn the ball past Bento into his own net. Al-Fayha, marshalled by Chris Smalling, held firm until the 72nd minute, when Kingsley Coman played down the line and crossed for Sadio Mane to tap in at the back post.
Eight minutes later a João Félix effort cannoned off the upright onto goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera and crossed the line, completing the turn-around.
